We need some hands-on projects that are small.  Every action cannot be  valiant people braving the arctic waters to confound the whaleboats.  People need some small actions as a place to start, as a way to get the feel for the hands-on experience, and as a way to see themselves succeeding.  The Trash Lure is one such small project idea.   At it simplest, the Trash Lure is a fishing plug with a barbless hook that is purpose-designed to snag trash floating in the water.  As we develop this idea it can be money-raising ...

Despite the tough economic times we’re living in, wind power continues to expand around the globe. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, the worldwide wind power capacity grew by 31% last year, adding 37.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy to the global mix. Despite being six years old, I sympathized with the poor Lorax and wanted to help with his fight against the Once-ler. When he abandoned the place where his beloved trees once stood I ...

Specialists findings regarding ragweed, an invasive plant whose pollen is the leading trigger of fall hay fever, are nothing to sneeze at. Global warming and increased atmospheric carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels appear to supercharge the growth of ragweed. And not only does ragweed grow larger and produce more pollen, its pollen is more allergenic, studies show.People allergic to ragweed aren't the only ones who'll be sniffling more. Studies show that increased CO2 levels increase the level of tree pollen, a common source of allergies in springtime. There's evidence that warmer temperatures in Alaska have led to increases in ...
