My story is not as dramatic as some of our members, but I hope that with my small contributions, I will have made a difference. I am from the 60's generation that stood against the war in Vietnam and made every attempt to lend my voice to the war against inhumane treatment of animals, children and Mother Earth. I made what meager financial contributions I could when I could not participate physically. I wrote letters and signed petitions - as I do now. I encouraged all with whom I came in contact with action and education. My children grew up with a Mother who made do with little, recycling fabric for clothing, packaging to create habitat in the city where there was none, turning out lights, not letting the water faucet run and so forth. They were used to drawing on both sides of whatever scrap paper we had. I sewed 25 grocery bags from mattress ticking 35 years ago - and I'm still using them today. That's how well they have lasted. I remember when our grocery chain gave me five cents for every bag I brought in. I will contribute until I am one with Mother Earth.
